Q: How can I change my username?
Sorry, you cannot change your username. If for some reason you feel it is necessary, then contact us and we can have it changed for you.

Profile

Q: How do I Create a Profile?
Creating a profile if free and easy. It is a summary of who you are and what you are looking for in a relationship. You must first register. Once registered, you will be prompted to create your profile and can then begin searching.

Q: How do I Update My Profile?
Once logged in, you can click on the "Create/Edit Profile" link from your "My Profile " page and update your profile.

Q: What guidelines do I need to follow regarding my profile?
At GayDCSingles.com we review each and every profile to provide our members with a comfortable environment. We reserve the right to revise our guidelines from time to time, so please check back for updates.

We may reject profiles if the username, headline, or narrative text contain any of the following:

• Any direct contact information (i.e., email addresses, URLs, ICQ/instant messenger IDs, phone numbers, full names, addresses)
• Any location or descriptive information that threatens a member’s anonymity
• Abusive language of any kind (i.e., vulgarity, racism)
• Discussion or descriptions of illegal acts or behavior (i.e., drug use, violence)
• Business or political advertisements or solicitations
• Material that exploits or solicits personal information from individuals under the age of 18
• Foreign languages (to effectively monitor profiles, they must be in English)
• Solicitation of multiple or additional partners
• Unauthorized use of copyrighted or trademarked material
• Overt sexual innuendo or discussion
• Content form any individuals under the age of 18

Photos

Q: How do I post a photo?
To upload a photo directly from your computer, simply go to the My Account page, and select "Upload Photo" and follow the instructions.
Once approved, uploaded photos will be posted exactly as they are submitted. Be sure to crop your photo if necessary before uploading it. Due to the volume of photos that we receive, it may take 24 to 72 hours for your photo to appear on your profile.

Q: Why should I post my photo?
Viewing a photo is an important part of most people's selection process. A nice picture of yourself adds personality and presence to your profile. What's more, profiles with photos get browsed ten times more often than those without photos.

Q: What guidelines do I need to follow regarding my photos?
We are committed to providing our members with a secure, comfortable environment. We reserve the right to crop or reject any photo at our discretion. Photos will not appear on the site until they are approved by Customer Care.

Photo Content must adhere to the following guidelines:

• Nude, obscene, sexual or otherwise offensive photos will not be posted.
• Cartoon characters and photos of celebrities are copyrighted and will not be posted
• You must be in the photo and clearly visible.

Due to the volume of photos that we receive, it may take 24 to 72 hours for your photo to appear on your profile.

Chat

Q: Do I need to download any software to use the chat?
No. It uses the Macromedia Flash plug-in which almost ALL browsers already have. There is no software to download or to install. You just open the chat and start communicating instantly. It's as easy as that!

Q: Why do I see certain user's roooms?
The rooms that you see are rooms that belong to users on your friends list. These are the users you have granted to be on your friends list and whom you have specified to you wish to have communications with. You will also see some general open rooms where all users can join and chat.

Q: How can I chat with users who are not on my friends list?
You can chat with users not on your friends list by meeting them up in one of the general open rooms, such as the "Lobby" room. These rooms are open to all users. If you would like to join a user's private room, they must be on your friends list.

Q: What guidelines do I need to follow regarding the chat?
We are committed to providing our members with a secure and comfortable environment. We reserve the right to remove any user from the chat program and disable that user's account at our discretion. Nude, obscene, sexual or otherwise offensive streaming video will not be tolerated. If your account gets disabled by an Administrator, only an Administrator will be able to re-enable your account.

Q: How do I know if a user has video and/or audio capabilities?
You can tell if a user has video and/or audio capabilites by clicking on their name in the chat window. Once you click on their name, their details will be displayed in the main profile section located on the bottom left of the page. There you will see an "A" and a "V" with a small circle next to each respectively. If the user has audio capability, the small circle next to the "A" will be highlighted. And, if the user has video capability, the small circle next to the "V" will be highlighted. If neither is highlighted, you will only be able to communicate with that user using the text chat window and typing your message(s).
